Snapshots

We are asking for help from IOWATER members and interested friends of the communities to help conduct a snapshot sampling of the Old Mans Creek and Clear Creek Watersheds. We need your help to test 80+ locations in the watersheds in a three-hour period.

At each test site IOWATER chemical and physical tests will be performed. The chemical tests will include pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate and Chloride. Temperature, Transparency and the collection of three samples for further UHL testing will be collected at each test site. This fall sampling at multiple locations throughout the watersheds will continue to provide baseline information on the water quality throughout the Old Mans Creek and Clear Creek watersheds.

The snapshot is a perfect learning environment for both the young and old. If there are any teachers, Boy Scout or Girl Scout Leaders that would like to have their students or troops participate in the snapshot please contact me by e-mail or phone. We would like to provide specific task for such groups.

Anyone interested in participating will be trained the morning of the snapshot sampling.

I have been approached many time by a few people that either can’t get up early on Saturday or don’t feel comfortable driving / walking the watershed. So I have a new job for a limited few people. Lynette and I spend several hours after the snapshot checking datasheets, getting them in order, comparing the time on bottles and breaking down the sample equipment bags. There is no reason that this process could not be done by someone sitting in the Education Center. What would they do? When the volunteers return:
